About Me

A BRIEF HISTORY ABOUT MYSELF

Hello! I’m Trevor. I’m a marketing professional in my late 20s living in San Jose, California, the Capitol of Silicon Valley! I am fortunate enough to have an inspiring and successful wife, and an energetic Australian Shepherd.

For fun, I have several hobbies that keep me learning and enjoying life. I play an electric guitar, mainly for rocking out to my favorite 80s and 90s tunes! I’m a bourbon enthusiast. I’ve read several books about the history of whiskey and how it’s made. And of course I’ve tasted many whiskies from around the world (in moderation!). I also like to do several activities with my wife and dog, including hiking, traveling, and shooting sporting clays.

For my career, I do marketing in the software industry, more specifically the B2B SaaS industry. I absolutely love the line of work I’m in because it has given me the opportunity to explore two of my biggest passions; emerging marketing solutions and helping small business grow.

I’m also an aspiring leader. I’m currently the Vice President of the Nevada Bay Area Alumni Chapter. In college I was the Vice President of Communications in the university’s chapter of the American Marketing Association, and the Vice President of Member Development in the Nevada Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

I enjoy leadership because I love coming up with strategic solutions to solve challenges, and inspiring a team to achieve those goals. I’ve also found great joy in sharing my knowledge with young professionals and seeing them succeed.

As for my leadership style/philosophy, I strive to follow the 10 Principles of Leadership outlined by Major Richard Winters in his memoirs:

  1. Be a leader of Character, Competence, and Courage.
  2. Lead from the front.
  3. Stay in top physical shape. (Is the necessary? I think so, a healthy body leads to a healthy spirit!)
  4. Develop your team.
  5. Delegate responsibility and let them do their job.
  6. Anticipate problems and prepare to overcome obstacles.
  7. The seven P’s: Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.
  8. Remain humble.
  9. Earn respect, not because of rank, but because you’re a leader of character.
  10. Never, ever give up!
